Arada London, part of UAE-based developer Arada, has submitted a planning application for a 516-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Peckham, London.

If approved, the Blackpool Road scheme will also include an additional building with 55 homes for social rent, which would feature maisonettes on the ground floor and apartments above.
Meanwhile, the student building would comprise 1,200 sq ft of ground-floor commercial and community spaces.
The affordable homes would come with a dedicated play area for children and private outdoor space, while the student building would feature a range of amenities such as communal lounges, a gym, laundry facilities and dedicated study and social spaces, as well as a roof terrace.
Designed by Morris+Company, the proposals also include enhanced, pedestrianised public realm and 376 cycle storage spaces.
Arada London was formed when Arada entered the UK market with the acquisition of a 75% stake in London-based residential-led developer Regal.

“The scheme reflects policy objectives, addressing the shortfall of housing by making the most of brownfield land, while honouring the character of Peckham and delivering public realm that the whole community can take pride in.”
Arada said it expected the development to bring in around £9.9m of spending to the local area per year.
Last month, Arada unveiled the 1,500-home first-phase plans for the Thameside West urban regeneration masterplan at London’s Royal Docks, with a gross development value of £2.5bn.
