Housebuilder Vistry Group has secured a resolution to grant planning permission for 780 mixed-tenure homes at North Weald Bassett in Essex.

The application was developed in partnership with Epping Forest District Council following public consultation.

Vistry will also improve the range of local services and green spaces available by developing sustainable alternative natural greenspace and land reserved for a new community building, health centre and primary school.

This is the first large site allocated in Epping Forest District Council’s local plan to have a scheme approved through its planning committee.

James Harkin, head of Vistry Strategic Land, said: “This is a fantastic development that will deliver much-needed, high-quality homes for residents, as well as providing the vital community facilities required to support long-term and sustainable communities.

“Working in partnership with Epping Forest District Council and incorporating feedback from the extensive public consultation that has been carried out has enabled us to produce an application that will have a transformative impact for local residents.”

Construction dates and costs for the scheme have not yet been disclosed.

Earlier this month, Vistry promoted Adam Daniels to chief executive and executive director with immediate effect, replacing outgoing chief executive Greg Fitzgerald.

Last week, Vistry and Homes England agreed a conditional contract to accelerate the development of 1,000 homes in Northstowe, Cambridgeshire.
