The Church Commissioners for England (CCE) has submitted plans for the final 1,607-home phase of its East Cambridgeshire community.

The project, which expands the northern side of cathedral city Ely, will comprise a mixture of property and tenure types, including affordable housing.
Around 45% of the site will be allocated for new green spaces, including the extension of Ely Country Park, alongside new play areas, playing fields, allotments and green corridors.
A network of walking and cycling routes will also be developed to connect the new neighbourhood to Lynn Road and the wider city.
The CCE already secured outline planning permission for up to 800 homes, a local community centre, a school and supporting infrastructure at Highflyer Farm, directly south of the site, with 200 homes now built and occupied.
Joyce Lo, assistant asset manager at the CCE, said the plans represent “the final piece in delivering a sustainable, well-connected northern expansion of Ely, ensuring residents can continue to live and work in their local area”.
Lo added: “Rather than housing in isolation, the neighbourhood will offer jobs, amenities and plentiful green space, while connecting seamlessly to the wider new community’s planned schools and local centres.”
The masterplan for the 210-acre Highflyer Farm North site completes the ELY1 allocation in the East Cambridgeshire Local Plan, adopted in 2015.
The masterplan forms part of the CCE’s wider strategic land portfolio, which has the capacity to bring forward around 30,000 homes across the country.
Last year, the CCE secured a resolution to grant planning permission for 350 homes in Three Elms, Hereford, in the first phase of a wider 1,000-home masterplan for the site.
