Pub chain Young’s has acquired Cubitt House, a collection of central London pubs owned by the private equity investors behind Stonegate Group, Britain’s largest pub operator.

Young’s pub: The Stag, Hampstead
The deal, understood to be in the region of £30m, was confirmed by Young’s yesterday (7 April) and takes the London-based operator’s estate to over 280 pubs.
The eight leasehold pubs acquired include three in Belgravia: The Thomas Cubitt, The Orange and The Alfred Tennyson.
The rest of the portfolio comprises: The Barley Mow in Mayfair; The Builders Arms in Chelsea; The Princess Royal in Notting Hill; and The Coach Makers Arms and The Grazing Goat in Marylebone.
The acquisition also includes a ninth pub in Belgravia, that is currently being developed.
Young’s chief executive Simon Dodd said: “We are delighted to be adding this collection of iconic pubs and pubs with rooms to the Young’s estate. Located in some of London’s most affluent neighbourhoods, these premium sites align perfectly with our strategy to selectively expand our business.”
The deal demonstrates Young’s ambitions to grow in London by targeting “well-invested pubs in prime locations”. The acquisition will be funded from existing banking facilities.
In 2024, Young’s completed a mega-£162m deal to acquire competitor City Pub Group, bringing 51 venues across London and the South East into its estate.
