As an experienced adviser with a strong background in business space and life sciences investment, Spencer joined Avison Young as a director in January 2025, having previously held senior roles at BNP Paribas and Strutt & Parker.
He has advised on more than £2bn worth of transactions across a wide-ranging client base spanning the country and internationally.
Some high-profile projects he has consulted on include Oxford Science Park for Clearbell Capital, Watchmoor Park, Camberley, for Anglesea Capital and Surrey Research Park for British Land.
A spokesperson for the firm said that his promotion marked a significant step in the company’s capital markets ambitions as it looked to expand its London team and hone its focus on asset class specialisation.
Chris Pilgrim, principal, managing director and head of capital markets UK at Avison Young, said: “Guy’s promotion marks another important milestone for our capital markets team, as we continue to innovate to provide a market-leading service for our growing client base.
“His leadership will play a central role in shaping our national strategy, strengthening our capabilities across key sectors and sharpening our focus on the most significant opportunities in the market.”
Spencer added: “Since joining Avison Young, I have been continuously impressed with the expertise, knowledge, research and dedication of the team here, and as we enter a new phase of growth for the capital markets business, I’m energised by the shifts we’re seeing across the market and the possibilities they’re creating for clients.
“The pace of change right now is opening doors that didn’t exist even a year ago. Being able to play a bigger part in helping clients capture those opportunities is something I’m genuinely excited about.”
The promotion follows the appointment of Richard Day as Avison Young’s head of debt advisory.
