Allsop said it was “deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing” of Clough, who originally joined the company as a graduate in 2010.

He later became a partner in 2022 and served as lead auctioneer in Allsop’s commercial auction business.

The company said he was not only “one of the UK’s finest auctioneers”, but a “brilliant leader within the business, an enormously valued colleague and a very dear friend to many in the firm”.

Andrew Boyd, senior partner at Allsop, said: “He possessed a natural ability to work a room with the utmost professionalism and charisma.

“Whether addressing seasoned investors or first-time buyers, he struck the perfect balance between confidence and approachability, putting everyone at ease while maintaining complete control of the auction room.”

Boyd added: “Much loved doesn’t begin to describe Will within Allsop. He was an incredible leader of our firm, both in his capacity as an auctioneer, but also in his wider influence in shaping our future and the next generation.

“The outpouring of support from across the market has demonstrated how highly Will was regarded, and we would like to thank everyone for their kind messages in recent days. We are all devastated by this news and, along with Will’s family, will be arranging to celebrate his life and create a lasting legacy.”
