The new 29,225 sq ft store combines five units on Meadowhall’s Lower High Street to create a prominent new store with a 63m frontage.

The expanded store enables JD Sports to showcase an enhanced retail concept, featuring extended product ranges.

“When retailers choose to invest in refurbishing and upsizing their stores, it is a clear signal of both the success they are seeing today and the future potential they see in the destination,” said Richard Crowther, retail leasing director at British Land, which is Meadowhall’s asset manager.

“JD Sports’ impressive new frontage brings a new level of vibrancy to the high street, while creating an engaging store environment that reflects the brand’s unique identity.”

James Air, director of group real estate and acquisitions at JD Sports, said: “This investment reflects our commitment to the city and gives customers access to an even bigger selection of the world’s leading sports, fashion and lifestyle brands, all within a phenomenal, high-spec new retail space.”

In 2024, British Land sold its 50% stake in Meadowhall to partner Norges Bank Investment Management for £360m, giving the sovereign wealth fund 100% ownership.
