Soho Estates has submitted plans for the West End’s first permanent large-format immersive visitor attraction, in Leicester Square.

LSX Leicester Square

Known as LSX, the new destination could attract up to 1.9 million visitors a year, according to Soho Estates.

The building is designed to accommodate an unspecified major visitor attraction, although a tenant has yet to be secured.

The scheme would include around 50,000 sq ft of flexible attraction space across three double-height floors, alongside places to eat and drink at street level and a rooftop restaurant overlooking the square.

Fawn James, chief executive of Soho Estates, said: “It’s Leicester Square. It’s one of the world’s best-known entertainment destinations, and it’s the right place to put forward an ambitious vision for the future.

“The West End doesn’t have a venue like this today. We’ve spent almost three years listening, refining and improving our plans. People expect something extraordinary for Leicester Square, and so do we.”

The site, at 17-21 Leicester Square, comprises eight properties, all owned by Soho Estates, and is currently occupied by Burger King, Pizza Hut and Market Place Food Hall.
