Residential developer Cavendish & Gloucester has secured planning permission for a 433-home regeneration scheme in West Drayton, West London.
The scheme near Heathrow airport will redevelop the Rainbow and Kirby Industrial Estate in Yiewsley with a mix of one-to-three-bedroom homes including a 35% provision for affordable housing.
Three ground-floor commercial units will be built to accommodate a range of uses, with potential for a canal-side café or restaurant.
The plans also include light industrial space with flexible and affordable micro-units for start-ups and small businesses, as well as public realm enhancements with open space, tree planting and landscaping.
James Murphy, chief executive of Cavendish & Gloucester, said: “This is a significant planning resolution for a long-assembled brownfield site in West Drayton and an important step towards creating a major new canal side neighbourhood.
“The scheme will provide 433 new homes, commercial space, substantial improvements to public realm and pedestrian connectivity, with a strong emphasis on waterside living and reconnecting Yiewsley High Street with the Grand Union Canal.
“We are pleased to have reached this point following many years of strategic site assembly and planning work.”
Construction dates and costs for the scheme have not yet been disclosed.
