Expanding Chinese third-party logistics operator DCG Logistics UK has signed a lease for DIRFT200, a 204,660 sq ft unit at Logicor’s Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) in Northamptonshire.
The unit was refurbished and let within 10 months of the previous customer vacating, in the second letting at the terminal in the past 12 months.
Last July, Logicor let DIRFT150, a 143,155 sq ft unit, to Menzies Distribution Solutions, a UK third-party logistics business. That unit was also let within 10 months of the previous tenant leaving.
“Signing two new customers to the recently refurbed units at DIRFT in such quick succession of being vacant is a clear indication of the strength of demand from distribution and 3PL customers for quality assets in great locations,” said Tom Blakely, Logicor’s director, asset management.
“With Menzies, we worked closely to deliver the tailored space they needed to support their immediate customer needs and longer-term UK growth ambitions.
“Securing DCG Logistics UK as a new customer at the same park further validates the strength of DIRFT as a prime distribution hotspot in the heart of the UK logistics Golden Triangle.”
Will Liang, head of UK and EU at DCG Logistics UK, added: “The unit at DIRFT gives us the scale and the location to service our customers effectively, and we are pleased to be joining Logicor’s portfolio.
“The quality of the refurbished space made this a straightforward decision. We look forward to building a strong working relationship with Logicor.”
Last month, Prologis UK submitted proposals for a 762,000 sq ft distribution centre at DIRFT.
