Bellway Strategic Land has submitted an outline planning application for up to 120 homes and public open space in Cronton, Merseyside.
The plans include a 40% provision of affordable housing, with almost a quarter of the 10-acre site to be provided as green open space available to the wider community.
As part of the planning agreement, Bellway would make financial contributions to education and outdoor sports provision, and is also proposing improvements to footpaths and bus stops near the site.
Sebastian Burrow, strategic land director for Bellway’s North West region, said: “Working closely with planning officers at Knowsley Council, we have identified the land at Cronton Road as an important grey- belt site that can be unlocked to deliver much-needed family housing for the area.
“The council currently has insufficient land in the urban area to meet housing needs in the borough and this site represents a logical and appropriate location for residential development. It is sustainably located within walking distance of local services and amenities in Cronton and is well served by public transport.”
Last month, Bellway Homes reported a solid performance in its interim results for the six months to the end of January, with revenue up 6.3% to £1.52bn and housing completions up 2.7% to 4,702.
