Property Week has launched its fourth annual Inspiring Diversity in Property (IDiP) sentiment survey, inviting individuals across the industry to anonymously help create a true picture of employers’ attitudes and actions towards improving diversity and inclusion in the sector.

This year, the survey includes a new question on whether employees feel their company’s stated aims/policies around diversity and inclusion are a true reflection of its culture in practice.

Mel Flaherty, deputy editor of Property Week, said: “There has been a lot of concern about an EDI [equity, diversity and inclusion] backlash, particularly in the US. While many firms in the UK property industry seem to continue to be committed to long-term progress in this area, despite the negative rhetoric, there is also anecdotal evidence that some are taking their foot off the pedal or that their actions are not matching their stated intentions.

“I would urge anyone with an interest in seeing EDI progress to take our survey so we can build a real picture of how inclusive the industry is in practice and monitor any changes in sentiment.”

Findings from the research, which is part of Property Week’s ongoing IDiP campaign, will be unveiled at the annual IDiP Forum, taking place in London on 4 June.

Property Week will donate £5 per entry, for the first 100 completed surveys submitted, to this year’s IDiP charity partner, Furnishing Futures, which sustainably fits out and furnishes social housing for women and children escaping domestic abuse.
