Morrisons has signed a lease for a 264,688 sq ft Logicor-owned warehouse in Snodland, near Maidstone in Kent.
The letting will expand Morrisons’ presence in Logicor’s UK portfolio – it has occupied a 331,625 sq ft Logicor warehouse in Northampton for over 10 years – and support its growing distribution network in the South East.
This deal follows Tesco’s decision to vacate the Snodland warehouse.
“This lease to Morrisons in Maidstone is a brilliant example of an existing customer looking to expand its footprint in Logicor’s portfolio to serve their end consumers effectively,” said Logicor director Jack Garrett.
“The team worked hard to coordinate Tesco’s end of lease to coincide with Morrison’s start, ensuring the cold store equipment was maintained without needing to decommission the facility, maintaining the efficiency of the site.”
Morrisons property director Ben Kallend added: “Increasing our footprint in Logicor’s UK portfolio will allow us to expand our operational capacity quickly and efficiently. The building’s existing cold-storage configuration means we can quickly be fully operational, which is essential for our UK network.
“We value Logicor’s pragmatic approach to this lease and look forward to furthering our existing relationship with the team as our logistics needs evolve.”
Savills acted for Tesco, and Colliers acted for Morrisons.
At the end of last year, Morrisons announced plans to convert 250 corner shops across the UK into its ‘Morrisons Daily’ convenience store brand.
