The plans, approved by West Northamptonshire Council, will see the site of a disused former running track to the east of the ground redeveloped into a 375,000 sq ft, seven-unit warehouse development with space for up to 11 tenants, with buildings targeting minimum BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC ‘A’ ratings.
The plans were backed by 112 letters of support, with fans of the club writing to the council urging the authority to rubber-stamp the scheme.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Northampton Town FC welcomes the decision of the West Northamptonshire Council strategic planning committee to approve the club’s plans for the development land at Sixfields.
“The club would like to thank all who submitted responses to show their support for the plans.”
