The grade-A facility on a 24-acre site, which was designed to attract leading logistics operators to the port, is already in operation after ABP adapted it to meet Amazon’s requirements.

Helen Thomas, head of property at ABP said: “We are delighted to welcome Amazon to the Port of Cardiff. This deal is a fantastic way to round off what has been an exceptional year for ABP’s property function in South Wales.

“It’s a testament to the hard work and flexibility of our team and highlights the scale of opportunity we can offer across all five South Wales ports: Cardiff, Newport, Barry, Swansea and Port Talbot.”

She added: “With extensive land and the ability to deliver bespoke developments like this, we’re ready to support more businesses looking for strategic, well-connected locations.”

Last year, Amazon revealed plans for two new fulfilment centres in the East Midlands as part of a £40bn investment drive in the UK.
